ONLINE LAB EXERCISES
Geography is at its core a field discipline, but lectures and labs are also commonly necessary. Online laboratory experiences have become an unwelcome necessity in recent years. I have developed a series of these for my classes. Some work very well and some I wish worked better. The links below will take you to materials you could use in your courses either directly or you can adapt for your own purposes. Several are my adaptations of the lab exercises used elsewhere (Thanks Sacramento State!)

Lab: Weather and Climate in Burbank
In this lab, students use weather data from Burbank Airport to analyze the temperature patterns from 2015-2017. Students use spreadsheet data (Excel or Google Sheets) to calculate basic descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, etc.) and Z-scores, an inferential statistic to test a basic hypothesis about climate and weather in Burbank during these years. Includes video tutorials, data, and a downloadable module in Canvas format.
Forthcoming: Graphing Temperature and Air Pressure (Spreadsheets)
